This Masterplan has been drawn up to help Exeter College grow in a sustainable way to meet the needs of tomorrow’s young people, while remaining in the heart of the city.
The college is now consulting with the people of Exeter – and its closest neighbours in particular – to consider if the proposals need to be further refined.
The proposals are also being discussed with statutory bodies such as Historic England, the local planning authority and the local highways authority, and the design team have engaged with the Devon Design Review Panel.
During this consultation the college will listen to everyone’s opinions and consider all comments put forward before, if necessary, making any revisions to the plan.
Applications will then be prepared and submitted to Exeter City Council for consideration. It is intended that a full application for the Institute of Technology will be submitted (Phase 1 of the overall Masterplan), and an outline application for the Masterplan as a whole to cover the planned 20-year long-term development of the site. The college will work with the city council and its planning team to answer any concerns that may be raised.
The Masterplan provides certainty for all concerned: the college will be able to plan for the future knowing it will be able to expand as needed, and the people of the city can be assured that the planned growth detailed within the overarching Masterplan will be acceptable to the council and the college’s neighbours.
